New Pendulum Swings Website with 3 free mp3 downloads including my favourite: Lorimer

A song that Joe Gardner & I were messing about with in Berlin almost a year ago is shaping up to be a Love Rival:

Oh Narcis, even Lars was aghast
At your dances, and your cigars - I'm outclassed
Oh Narcis, a Romanian nanny in a gas mask
You freaked us all out
Oh Narcis, oh so tame till you drained all your hip flask
And you shouted "Romania sucks!"

You're unstable, but we're on your team, need you ask?
Turn a table, it's Halloween, make a pass

Never really liked Mountain Goats, but everything Laura Stevenson touches turns to gold, thanks to William for finding this lofty cover on a recent webclimb (presumably):

Heaven above, and beyond, lost lords abound, bedbored at best, a breeding ground. Time-tired, down firing, sidelined & metaphored; uncivil unrest, or the other way around. So much more we can wish to hope for. Still, you don't expect to be bright & bon vivant so far away from home:

Woke up 10pm, would I like to go to a house party in Jersey? No thank you. An unfamiliar negative, bigger picture bonus points. Base principles. I'm looking forward to the new year & hearing that satisfying clunk of the reset button. Springtime's been a long time coming.

Been in New York over a month now, and can't believe how many things I've got to squeeze into this last week or so. Eddie's back in London, and we've a ton of shows booked there for when I'm back on 11th. I don't know. So hey, do you do Judo in your finery?

Ellie Delly has a new bandcamp page:

So, the practical side of all this is that I have another new American phone with brand new digits, numerally 347 872 9245. Which is somewhat odd because when I was a child, this was my favourite car:

I'm sitting at the back of a wonderfully strange & archaic venue near Brooklyn Heights, waiting to play another show with Albert Goold. Another insane week, I'm losing track of aches, cuts & bruises relative to the incidents which caused them.

Got robbed in Jersey last night, in some fuckin' dodgy Newark suburb. Three guys knocked me to the ground while I was listening to U-Mass & my phone flew out of my shirt pocket, they grabbed it & made off, I jumped up & walked after them going "It's a shit phone man" and it all got a bit socially awkward, I gathered that their victims normally run away or stay on the ground. So I borrowed a phone to text them on my number to let them know it was the lamest mugging ever & that I had $400 in my wallet that they didn't take. What kind of spazbag thief doesn't take your wallet. And here's the best part - It's Educational.

The previous night I went home with two girls for a threesome, but walked out of the bedroom when they started & ended up in the kitchen kissing one of the girl's flatmates instead, who turned out to be her cousin, oops. Later that night, a beautiful soul bought me 20 red roses, but I completely misread the situation so I smashed the bouquet to pieces in the street & nearly got arrested.. again. I'm still finding petals in my shoes & the unlikeliest of places.

What else. Some jock/slut party with frat fags standing around filming me on their iPhones 'cos they've never seen anyone having fun before. Party was raided by cops, so I strolled about a bit, (got mugged), eventually asked somebody how on Earth I could get back to NYC from wherever in Jersey I'd managed to end up in, they said I was literally standing at the bus stop, one minute later and this weird mini bus thing turned up, $4 ride to Port Authority. I sat down, two dumb girls started talking to me & I just looked them in the eyes as they were rattling on & put my earphones in, playing Weezer really loud, they seemed surprised though obviously I couldn't hear anything they said after that, thank Jesus. I'm in a real fuck you mindset these days; a self-imposed unavailability & very few people see me beneath the blistering shadow, standing ten feet tall in the Dionysian rift.

Was just asking Eddie about the twerp thing (see below) and she reminded me that I'd chosen school in the first place 'cos that's the collective noun for fish. Totally forget what a genius I am sometimes.

There's a sequel to 8 Love Rivals somewhere on the horizon.

Richard Pierre wakes up with no opinions
Believes in something he don't understand
He cheers the words the birds outside are singin' (whaey)
A flock of knowledge flopping on the ground

Richard Pierre wakes up without a reason
Yeah, Richard Piere wakes up, man he's no fool
The walls they haven't sunk, the water's risen
The little fish has run away from school

Yeah Richard Pierre's got something on his mind, frau
It came from somewhere secret in his soul
His hands are in his hair, his thoughts unwind now
He's found himself & lost his self control

Kindof considering changing 2nd line of 2nd verse to Yeah, Richard Piere wakes up, man he's no twerp, and changing school to church, but it would be just to get the word twerp in a song, at the cost of punch. Oh the drama.

I have two distinctly different memories of meeting Cal Folger Day for the first time, but both seem equally real though they must surely be mutually exclusive. Or had I forgotten that I'd already met her, on the second occasion, whichever of the two that might have been? Unlikely. I also have two separate nights in my mindbanks for the final evening in New York on my last visit, but they, too, can't both have been as I recall them. Feels like I'm living two lives in parallel. Or perhaps just the one, as a complete madman with a double decker brain.

'sup mammals. When the cat's away, the mice lick their wounds and shiver & shake in anticipation of a fearful trick, or o'erhasty return.

Good night's sober sleepin' & I'm back, beeline to the feline, lick a stick of liquorice & begone with ye. In other news, Jet Tea has a girlfriend. William Nein has a new band, set for bright futures. Groke did this:

I have the monsoon.

Long time old man. Playing a very exciting show with the Albert Goold band on Thursday, here's the poster/event link:

What else. I read a few poems on stage at Sidewalk at the request of the wonderful anti-folk bard-for-bottoms Bernard King, I'm teaching Eddie bass guitar for a punk rock Jeeps line-up, I'm listening to Bigott, I'm as free as a happy man can be. Hollering & Handstands is sitting here in no rush whatsoever to be heard, and my only beer of the day is more than a fifth full, which I'm happy to share. I have nowhere to stay here in New York from 26th for two weeks, and pull or die is no longer an option, but I'm not concerned one jot with all that. Missed the only show I really wanted to catch for being in jail, but mine was probably the more interesting & educational experience of the two. Probably cheaper, too, judging by recent bar-bills.

Reading the Winter's Tale for the ten thousandth time, still can't believe my ears. Got a new phone number here if any you slags wanna prank my Harlem Shakespeare ass on (917) 293-0434. Did I ever tell you about the New York Shakespeare Riots of the late 1840's?

Tue 18th Sept, 2012
Haven't got time for anything else right now so:

Sat 15th Sept, 2012
We recorded this episode of the radio show on the 1st or 2nd night in Harlem.. advanced warning, there's a lot of penis talk in this one, don't listen if yer gonna be offended.. introducing the Pierre Brothers!

Can't keep a handle on horrible fluctuating schisms which rend innocence, tearing through guilt leaving only stoney faced powerlessness & the echo of regret. The law of the land is such an easy tyrant to bear compared with the despotted self. Attack, decay, hello hello hello goodbye goodbye goodbye, I'm not here.
