Nothing broken, nothing thrown.

Now, I've been saying this for years, but I finally dug out the old Mac that's been in storage since the England & The April days & have been making FINAL mixes of those tracks to be mastered & released once & for all. Having a slight issue with songs that I don't feel are good enough anymore (Growing Cold in particular, not sure I can stand that one, wrote it when I was about 15 & may have to leave it out, mate) but all in all they're sounding fabulous. First to be mastered & uploaded will be TheBed's Infinite Skin single plus B-Side, and then the first book of the Ghostcone Trilogy by England & The April.. 1st June scheduled release.

Sorted out a little show in Berlin for friends Scarlet Soho who had a spare day on their European Tour, that's next Tue 22nd May at Intersoup. I get back to Berlin that morning but will try to put together an acoustic set for Jeeps to play the same show.

Can't figure out how to embed it here, but follow this link to see the brand new Bigott video for Turkey Moon

Well I've ended up staying in Chesham again for the time being, and a pleasure it is to be back here. Going to see Scarlet Soho at the Hoxton Underbelly tonight, come daa'n.

Back in fuckin' Shepherd's fuckin' Bush again, third time in three days for various reasons, surprised they even let me in any of these bars again after Thu night's performance. Was literally forced to come to this exact same bar, alone, by sheer circumstance & for very different reasons from last time. In fact, now I know that my computer works with this new charger, I have no reason at all to be here other than to drink this compulsory beer (bought in exchange for usage of the wall socket) & fuck off. Actually, you know what, I actually feel pretty good for the first time in a week. Alone in bar, great view, mad shit, fick dich.

I'm aware that many of you can't watch the video below due to Facebook privacy issues, I've requested that it be made public, gotta wait & see on that one.

Crappy mood hasn't lifted, what's going on here? Was the best year ever right up until a week or so ago, and now I can't deal with stuff at all, for no discernible reason. The world seems irredeemably populated by fucktards & it's getting me down. I've got a headache from how much I hate so many people today. If I wasn't listening to The Carpenters right now I'd probably be punching myself in the teeth.

Nice of the sun to finally make an appearance though. Took your fucking time you giant flaming shitstorm.

James Tulley has written a great article on William Nein, documenting much of his musical life & bringing us up to date with his current happenings. It's up now, right here on the William Nein Page

Really don't know why, but I descended into a right foul mood this past weekend. Reached an absolute low when I wandered into Madame Claude on Sunday night & they were short a few acts so Chiara asked if I could play a couple songs. I went on almost immediately & the call came "Are you drunk Glen or sober Glen today" & I managed "I'm miserable Glen" before playing two tunes worse than ever before & then leaving the bar to go on a rampage across Berlin that lasted long into Monday. Back to London in the morning. Toasted Moses.

One does meet an array of wearisome weirdos. A guy from Iraq started up a conversation with me on the Warsauer Str bridge the other day, this was his story:

"I don't date German girls anymore. I had a German girlfriend two years ago, we were really happy together, I did everything I could for her. Then one day she went on a canoeing trip. Eighteen months after that, her father & mother were riding a tandem bicycle down the street & a car took them both out - the father he died instantly, and the mother was hospitalised & died shortly afterwards. I even visited the woman in hospital! Some months after that, I was looking though some photographs my girlfriend had stored away. One of them was from her canoeing holiday, and she was smiling at another guy in the canoe like something was happening between them. It's at that moment, when I saw this photo, that I first started to believe in God."

Draw what conclusions you will from that story. It took me a moment to put two & two together & I almost couldn't believe what I was hearing.

On the way home I was approached by a guy who was trying to sell me his bike. He said that he wanted to take a cab with his friends to another club & couldn't take the bike with him, so he was selling it. If it was a shitty Berlin standard model that you can pick up for 20 Euro I would've maybe believed him, but it was a custom converted silver machine, an absolute beast. Eventually I got a confession out of him that he'd stolen it from outside a club down the street, but he really did have to get rid of it & would sell it for whatever I had. I'd just been busking with William on the bridge & had a pocket full of coins, I counted up to about 7 Euro & he laughed & said fuck it, he took the money & I rode the bike home & now it's sitting over there in my room. It must be worth quite a lot of money, but it's too distinctive to sell really, or even use while it's still so hot. Charlie says I may as well have stolen Vanessa May's violin.

What NEXT, what NEXT. Well it may be dull for you if I just write a load of stuff that's happening, but right now I feel like I need it for myself to figure out what the fuck is going on. Gonna be in Berlin for another week-ish, then London for ten days or so, then the plan is to return here in the last week of May & regroup with JEEPS & play some shows, somehow.

Then, after a few months here, I'm gonna need to get my ass back to New York. Now that my probation is up, it's safe for me to hit those streets again, and I'd very much like to bring some musical peeps with me this time & try to play some proper shows out there.

And then? Well, a lot can happen in one Summertime of course, but if nothing dramatic happens, I might just try to settle in England after all. Oh yeah, except that me & Jet Tea are gonna open a bar someplace, possibly Slovenia. Damn, this aint ever gonna stop.

Welcome to the musical wonders of Happy Garden, her only album to date & all free as can be. Pick a track you like the title of & give it a spin:

Plenty been happening, including a red wine & Macbook related incident during a game of chess last week that rendered me invisible in the 5th dimension until, miraculously, the slender beast awoketh this morning & my life in the space of cyber(ni)city resumed.

Soooo, what did happen exactly. Wellthen, Eddie arrived Thursday morning from London, and we played the ACUD open mic in a somewhat inebriated state as it's been gallery weekend & there were a lot of free drinks to be found in & amongst the predominantly crappy artwork that stubbornly kept getting in the way of each fabulous cocktail.

Friday we started rehearsals with Jana at Noisy Rooms & later in the evening played Huldigung der Kunste at Bi Nuu with William Nein on the same billing. Free drinks in the backstage area & a wonderful stage made this a very memorable show.. and then less memorable after show, but no less fun I'm sure.

Saturday? Oh yeah, woke up about midnight & was gonna take it easy with just a couple beers & some tunes but this is Berlin of course, phone rang about 3:30am & was an old friend asking if we were coming to their party, Me & Eddie opened a bottle of red wine that had been asking for it & hit the scene, played some songs there with an amazing modern composer who I've not had time to look up just yet & watched the sun rise over Berlin from a golden rooftop.

Sunday played Madame Claude open mic, sharing the stage consecutively with the brilliant Vincent Long (I'll be sharing him with you soon) & making once again the beast with two backing singers a la Jana & Eddie. Earned the distinction of "I used to prefer drunk Glen but now I prefer sober Glen" from my ever present 'Claude critic. On the way between bars we ran into two girls filming a mock music video in a floodlit carpark & we managed to crash their scene & Tim (As in You Can't Out-Michael Jackson Tim - a work in progress song from the sequel to 8 Love Rivals), yeah, Tim choreographed a remake of the Thriller video & hopefully that'll be online sometime soon too.

Oh & today (last night) was May Day.. how can I possible describe a city like Berlin, vibrant to extremes at any minute of the day or night, in a state of full-on street party mode.. the whole of Kreutzberg thumping like a heart, indescribable scenes, overwhelming feelings of community.. until I saw one guy kicking in all the bikes chained to the park fence & people painting anarchy signs on trapped cars.. so close to heaven on Earth, but in the end it'll always be Kreuzberg & I love it all the same. Here's the only video of it I can find right now, should give you an idea, this is just down the road from where I live:
