Wow, well the show last night was great fun, thanks so much to everyone who came along. That was the first public step towards.. a future that has been forming in my heart since the start of the year, and in particular since my 'accident'. I introduced the first song Richard Pierre Wakes Up With No Opinions as a hymn to rebirth, and that's exactly what it was, as a performance, as a moment in my life & as a song.

My intolerance with the modern world is growing, but what does that matter when I'm happy as can be with seeing as little of it as possible? I think that so few people experience true love for more than tiny bursts once or twice a lifetime because we have grown so weak as individuals that we cannot deal with raw life in higher doses. I'm still regaining my strength, whipsawed with one-way wooing but remaining remarkably rectilineal, this time I'll take my time.

Back to the hospital in the morning.

Sorry about lack of updates recently, been decorating all week & rehearsing for the Jeeps show on Saturday. Rachel from England & The April will be joining us onstage to provide 3rd harmonies.

Albert Goold has released a song we sang harmonies to in New York last year. We're not on the recording, but he does a fine job of singing all the parts himself..(Am I imagining a slight British accent on the gang vocals?!) He Is On My List, it's on Spotify, iTunes & Amazon, under the bandname Albert & The Solid Goold, it's really something.

Only one song from the Love Rivals Collection uses a pseudonym. Richard Hate Goes To The Cinema is a character portrait of Robert Prekop, written when he was going through a particularly solitary phase, but that all changed today when I got a message from the real Richard Hate:

I just discovered one of your songs (guess which one) and it's great and I look forward to hearing more of your stuff. Cheers. Richard Hate.

PS - I love the cinema and I always turn my phone off at the beginning.

Bumtree removed my last bassist advert for 'linking' to William Nein's website of all things! Back to the drawing board, which is a shame 'cos I was starting to get into that, but I'm kinda enjoying it all, we can get by with just the three of us for the moment so there's no need to panic. May even start playing some local 3-piece punk shows very soon, that's a better way to find somebody anyway.

Been looking for a new bass player for Jeeps this past week or so, and normally I'd just head out into the world & talk to a lot of people until I found one, but somewhat housebound as I am, I've resorted to advertising online for musicians which is never a good idea. The other ads on Gumtree are so lame, I can't take the whole thing seriously, and my three attempts haven't received a single reply.. which might well be a good thing in itself, at least we're not wasting time on pointless auditions. In the order that I posted them:

1. Bassist hotly desired, and you gotta sing too. Dancing optional. Cello?
2. Sunshine Death Pop Bassist Required
3. Aww don be bad, we need bassist

I guess I'm not the only one who heard their first good jazz in a whorehouse. They forget what it was like in those days. A whorehouse was about the only place where white and black folks could meet in any natural way. They damn well couldn't rub elbows in the churches.

I know this for damn sure. If I'd heard Pops & Bessie wailing through the window of some minister's front parlour, I'd have been running free errands for him

Been a very strange week indeed, despite the fact I've barely left the weird hospital I'm living in & can only use one of my hands. Basically, one of the reasons I wanted to live here is because there's a peculiar little empty house at the bottom of the garden that is part of the clinic, but the keys for it are in an area downstairs that we're not supposed to enter. Obviously that didn't stop us, seeing as we genuinely have good use for the isolated space as a way of rehearsing without bothering any of the other tenants, and unoccupied it's a prime target for squatters. We set up basic keyboard & guitar down there, along with a writing desk & a library room (tautology?) for late night reading. I cleaned out the old kitchen, got the oven working & put beers in the fridge, chased out the mice (just by being there, apparently), started cleaning the many windows & tidied up all the rubbish, and it's been my haven for the past week.. until today.

The owners of the building came by to inspect their property this morning, and saw the cosy home we'd made, and insisted we move everything out. That's all fair enough I guess, and one thing I've learned in life is to be grateful for the briefest of blessings, but I'm gonna miss that place. Also, I'm in a fair amount of trouble for taking the key from a no-go zone, but on the plus side, a tenant in the basement moved out last week so Eddie is moving into that room, and we still have plenty space. Rehearsal rooms are not far away - another reason I chose to live here. Jeeps drummer Riley arrives from California tomorrow, there's lots of work to do, we need a bass or cello player who can sing harmonies, if anybody knows one in London please get in touch. Next show is:

Spice of Life, Sat Feb 23rd.
