Sun 6th July Here's a video we made in Venice for my solo recording The Metal Starts To Climb: |
Fri 4th July Here's a video I made for my 2010 song Your Starkself, using Photo Booth snaps from around that time & beyond. One for people who say they miss me being drunk, perhaps: |
Thu 3rd July Oh dear, well things are in a pretty sorry state right now, but we'll be back soon enough. Tomorrow, in fact, because although I've said we won't accept any more shows in London for the time being, I've made an exception for the wonderful Tooting Tram & Social tomorrow evening which will help us get on the right foot again with a performance at 8pm. (Fri 4th July). Here's the EVENT. Here's the JEEPS performance of Lifewish from Balcony TV Walchsee: |
Mon 16th June A new song by Art Sorority For Girls, at last! |
Wed 11th June The recent death of Rik Mayall had me digging out old clips, but I couldn't find anything that really highlighted how important he was for me, and so many others, growing up in England in the 80s. He was the punkest person on telly, and his whole persona was a great big fuck you to the restraint & decency that choked daily life in that era. Pretty sure this is gonna be everywhere very soon, but a Rik Mayall & Shakespeare combo aint gonna fly by the Tea Tone without a mention: |
Mon 9th June You might remember we had an interview with Niclas from Gothenburg band Mind Fox last year, well here is their fantastic new video: |
Wed 4th June I think most people can't tell the difference between something that sounds professional & something that sounds good. We've slowed right down on the social front & been taking it easy regarding alcohol, possibly for the first time ever and absolutely loving it for the moment. We still only have one fork in this apartment but at least we got a lightbulb now. And that pedal flute organ thing. And a bookshelf, finally. Off to Holland, Munich & the alps in a few weeks, made this little video of our time in Scotland: |
Sat 31st May Here's a demo that I recorded a few years ago, the song will probably never be recorded again or released so here it is in demo form, just after I wrote it: |
Thu 29th May William popped over yesterday & we recorded this before we got drunk & he threw his iPhone out of the 7th story window. Twice. I'm playing my new pump organ thing: |
Thu 29th May englandandtheapril.com has indeed been deleted, but this site is still here, so just maybe somebody did their job properly for once & transferred the files over as I'd originally requested. Back on my song-a-day schedule now, but it's gonna get tougher from here as I'm moving onto songs that were recorded a long time ago, and there's much to be done to keep the quality high. Here's the first track from my very first solo album The Speed of Sneeze, recorded in 2007: |
Tue 27th May Not got a single UK show booked for the future & never felt better, I'm slowly backing out of this whole shit. I increasingly know that the only thing for me is to create in isolation lest this poisonous IDIOCY takes hold of us with it's myriad blind tentacles, always dragging down, blindly, anything that dares to rise above. We have our magic circle, I'll be around, songs will appear, but no more god-forsaken open mics, no more run-of-the-mill shows, I'm so tired of being surrounded by imitation masquerading as art, and of forgeries being pushed in my face under the prostrate, spineless banner of expression. |
Fri 23rd May Couple Jeeps shows coming up this bank holiday weekend, see thebed.co.uk for details. Bleach The Chameleon, embedded below, is done now. 9 tracks seems a bit short perhaps, but a few songs intended for that release got used elsewhere in the meantime! Another Day In The Office of Love, for example, with lines like "I've been letting too much youth out, I should save some for the flood" made a lot more sense in the context of this record, but it's complete regardless. Been going crazy not having a piano about the place, but there's no way we could afford & transport one here all the way up to the 7th floor.. so we bought this pedal flute piano instead, and it's amazing! |
Tue 20th May This website refuses to die, so keepin' on for now. One track from finishing masters of my (best?) album Bleach The Chameleon: |
